Pitcher perfect! This is a St Lawrence Pottery favorite in the sunset pattern. It is beautifully thrown by John Arnot and decorated by Sarah Ellen Smith. Customers say this medium size pitcher works great for decanting wine. It also makes a great vase for wild flowers if you don't need it for water at the dinner table.
The sunset pattern is an overlay of glazes with strokes of a sumi brush. Blues and reds mingle into purples behind a silhouetted landscape of islands, flagging pine trees and a distant shore. The intention of this decoration is to invoke memories of sunsets along the water. A tiny heron wades through reeds along the river edge and a tiny St Lawrence skiff glides along near the handle of this lovely pitcher.
This is a medium sized pitcher at 7 inches tall and holds around 3 cups or 24 ounces of liquid.
